Portlock Boot CD

Replacing the Evaluation License for Portlock Storage Manager in the Portlock Boot CD for NetWare, version 4.01

Most customers prefer to build their production license into the Portlock Boot CD for NetWare ISO file. This is the recommended practice with the new CD. This CD does not create a virtual file system, unlike the older, Linux-based Portlock Boot CD. The disk image is loaded as a read-only file system. If you do not build your production license into the ISO image, you must have a floppy disk drive attached to the server.

When prompted for a license by Storage Manager, you must LOAD the license file. Selecting INSTALL will yield an error, since the file system is read-only. In order to do this, after you have downloaded the ISO image, open the file with an ISO editor such as UltraISO or WinISO. The ISO is small enough that you may use the evaluation version of the software to replace the evaluation license of Storage Manager with your production license. Once you have an ISO editor, follow the following steps:

  1. Open the ISO image with an ISO editor

  2. Open the /stormgr folder
  3. Locate and delete the file stormgr.lic
  4. Copy your production license into the /stormgr folder
  5. Save the ISO image file
  6. Burn the ISO image to CD

Note: If you do not completely remove the evaluation license before copying your production license into the /stormgr folder, you may experience a corrupt license error when starting Storage Manager.
