Portlock Storage Manager

Restoring an HP Proliant G5 with Portlock Storage Manager

Your HP Proliant G5 should come with an HP SmartStart CD. The latest version is currently 7.80. Before performing a bare-metal migration you will need to boot your HP server with the Smart Start CD. Once the CD finishes booting, wipe your settings clean including your disk configuration (delete logical drive).

Next, recreate your disk configuration (logical drive) with the same Smart Start CD. In doing so you will have an option to enable Max Boot which is disabled by default. This needs to be enabled. Basically this allows you to use 63 sectors for your MBR. Now that you are finished with your configuration, you may begin your migration using Portlock Storage Manager.
